KANESIA or Kapas Indonesia is a superior varieties of cotton breeding program at Balai Penelitian Tanaman Pemanis dan Serat (Balittas). KANESIA variety assembling is aimed at improving cotton productivity both in monoculture cultivation and intercropping with palawija and to meet the quality standards of fiber desired by the textile industry in Indonesia. Until 2006, has been released 9 new KANESIA variety series, namely Kanesia 1-9. The varieties currently used in cotton development are Kanesia 7, 8, and 9.

Production Potential : 2545kg of seeded cotton 
Fiber Content: 38.7% 
Fiber Quality:
- Length 30.3 mm 
- Smoothness 4.1 mic 
- Strength 24.7 g/tex 
- Uniformity 84 %
Resistance :
- Susceptible to H. Armigera
- Resistant to A. Biguttula and X. campestris pv. Malvacearum
- Resistant to R. Solani and S. Rolfsii.
